Artist's Description
Upper Wahkeena Falls waterfall, photographed from near the bridge on the trail. In this vertical composition, a strong waterfall gushes forth from a mossy rock crevice, a long exposure drawing the fast-moving water into long, silky, white strands. The beautiful water has almost a bridal veil effect, and is contrasted with the verdant green of the moss growing on the basalt cliffs through which the waterfall plunges. Wahkeena Falls is a 242 foot waterfall, just the upper portion of which is shown here. It is one of very many waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge, located about thirty miles east of Portland, Oregon. Wahkeena Falls is a short walk (or hike, if you take the trail) away from the more famous Multnomah Falls. Look also for my many other shots of Wahkeena Falls and other waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge and around Oregon.
