Vibrant and deep reds predominate this horizontal format shot showing a yellow sun setting near the horizon, and central in the frame two young teen-aged or preteen girls play in the surf, in silhouette. The sun is at the right angle to cast a widening column of light from the sun down to the bottom of the frame as the sunlight reflects off of the waves, this column being about one third of the frame from the left edge. The small Oregon coast town of Rockaway is on the northern Oregon Coast, about thirty or forty miles south of Seaside and about ten miles north of Tillamook, home of famous Tillamook Cheese. Rockaway hosts an impressive offshore rock formation called Twin Rocks, one of which is a natural arch. Rockaway also hosts several lakes near the shore, including Clear Lake, Spring Lake, and the largest, Lake Lytle, popular with fishermen.
