1947 Chevy Fleetline Aero Grill Abstract. In this abstract horizontal composition, a close-up of the grill of a 1947 Chevrolet Fleetline Aero, the shapes exuding solidity and power. This abstract is a sort of study in subtle contrasts. The repeating straight lines of the grill contrast with the rounded corners. The repeating horizontal lines of the grill contrast with the angled lines forming an obtuse triangular point in the center of the grill. The gleaming chrome of the grill contrasts with the flatness of the white paint below the grill, and the white paint and bright blue sky reflected on the chrome contrast with the blacks of the shadow areas between the grill bars. Adding counterpoint to these contrasts, bright sunlight creates specular reflections on the grill, the gleaming points diffracted naturally into starbursts by the small aperture used to take the photo, and adding to the repeating sense of solidity and regularity by being arranged in neat rows.
