Yaquina Head Lighthouse at Night. The Yaquina Head lighthouse shines out in the dark in this long nighttime exposure, the waves rolling in giving the impression of a blanket of fog over the sea. The scene is predominate by blue tones, enhancing the impression of night (which was actual fact in this shot). The light of the lighthouse is dramatically emphasized by a four point star-cross filter, appearing like the diffraction pattern of a telescope or through the small aperture of stopped down lens. The Yaquina Head Lighthouse is a historic building, construction began on it in 1871. At the time, the location was called Cape Foulweather, and early records list the building as the Cape Foulweather Lighthouse. It is on the central Oregon coast, not far from Lincoln City or Newport.
