Winter Anna's Hummingbird on Feeder. 3087x4019px. Calypte anna. At the time of this writing, a change in the common name for the Anna's Hummingbird has been proposed but not yet enacted. In this close vertical composition, an over-wintering Anna's Hummingbird is perched on a feeder. Iridescent feathers reflect vibrant pinks and greens. In the dead of winter, bright light from nearby snow and ice suffuses the scene. Anna's hummingbirds are known to spend the winter in their home territories, rather than migrating like many other birds.
