Description
Triple Falls Fall Colors. Columbia River Gorge, Oregon. In this horizontal composition, a lovely white triple waterfall plummets over the edge of a dark, basalt cliff, framed by leaves in fall colors. The large boulder-like rocks around which the waterfalls flow are covered in verdant moss and ferns. The rock bowl into which the waterfalls plummet, the creek from which the originate, are framed by leafy green deciduous trees. In the background, a quaint wooden footbridge is seen crossing the creek, inviting the traveler to explore for yet more wonders. The shot is asymmetric, adding to the motion of the image and allowing the whiteness of the waterfalls to be balanced by the green trees at the right of the frame, and allowing for a more expansive view of the gorge bowl into which the falls flow. Triple Falls is a set of three waterfalls which are a beautiful destination for a hike through the Columbia River Gorge, in Oregon. Depending on which trail you take to get to Triple Falls, you may be treated to a view of Middle Oneonta Falls, from a wooden footbridge over Oneonta Gorge, or to Horsetail and Ponytail Falls. Triple Falls plunges 64 feet over a volcanic basalt cliff, left over when a thick lava flow from a volcanic eruption cooled. Look also for my horizontal shot of Triple Falls, my photos of Middle Oneonta Falls and Lower Oneonta Falls, my photos of Ponytail Falls and Horsetail Falls, and my many photographs of other waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge, wider Oregon, and other locales.
