The Tree of Life- USS Arizona Memorial- Pearl Harbor- Hawaii. In this vertical composition, a special soft-focus lens brings out glowy halos of light and around the lightest portions of the image without removing the detail. The soft halos add to the ethereal feel of the symbolic window, while the interplay of light and dark emphasize the somber feel of the memorial. The Tree of Life is a window of symbolism in the USS Arizona Memoria. The USS Arizona was a battleship sunk by a surprise Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. That attack triggered the United States entry into World War II. The memorial is positioned over the wreck of the Arizona, which remains at the bottom of Pearl Harbor on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. Look also for my shot of the memorials exterior, and many other shots of Hawaii, especially Kauai and Maui.
