Description
Ramona Falls waterfall, Mt. Hood. In this vertical composition, a close shot shows a myriad of fine cascades, a long exposure drawing the moving water into silky, white strands. The blocky basalt provides a great number of little shelves for the cascades to tumble over, providing a lot of detail and interest in this image. Moss grows on the rocks at the left of the frame. Look for my other shots of Ramona Falls. Ramona Falls is on Mount Hood, Oregon. It is about a 3.5 mile hike, ascending about 1000 feet, through a deeply wooded setting. The falls are glacier fed, increasing as the snowmelt increases. The area shows evidence of the volcanic nature of Mt. Hood, which erupted (albeit in a minor way) last in August of 1907. Mount Hood is located about fifty miles from Portland, Oregon. Look also for my many other photos of waterfalls, mostly from Oregon’s Columbia River Gorge, and of Mt. Hood and the lakes on the mountain.
