Description
Mining Hydropower Pipeline Mendenhall Glacier. 4928x3264. Mining Hydropower Pipeline, Mendenhall Glacier. In this verdant horizontal composition, an old and large hydropower pipeline, a relic of the area’s mining history, travels over hillocks and boulders, flanked by the many trees that have grown up around it. The diffuse lighting adds to the cool mood of the scene, and the off-center placement of the pipeline adds movement to the balance of the composition. This is one of many shots taken along the Trail of Time near Mendenhall Glacier, in the Tongass National Forest, Alaska. This large (and very old) water pipeline at one time provided water to a hydroelectric powerplant which supported mining operations. Look also for my many other photos of Mendenhall Glacier, the Trail of Time, and Alaska.
