See my several other buttercup shots, including a horizontal shot of this same grouping. In this vertical composition, a frenzy of bright yellow blossoms contrast with the greens of their attendant foliage. The subject blossoms are well in focus, while the limited depth of field throws both the immediate foreground and the background out of focus, helping to provide context to the subject flowers while at the same time isolating them. Flowers are used by plants for sexual reproduction. They contain the plant’s reproductive organs. The female organs are in the pistil, which is often a single center stalk within the blossom. The pistil is made up of the stigma, style, and ovary. The male reproductive organs are in the stamen.
