Alaska Inside Passage Mountains. In this quietly dramatic horizontal composition, layers of wooded mountains, blue against a rosy sunset sky, rise above grey mists and waters. In one corner, a small fishing boat lends scale to the vista. Cruise ships headed for southeast Alaska frequently depart from Seattle, make their way out of Puget Sound past the Olympic mountain range, up past the San Juan islands, and in to the sheltered waters of the inside passage. This image was captured along this route. Continuing past the fjords like Endicott Arm and Tracy Arm, the ships arrive at Juneau and Skagway. See also my many other images of southeast Alaska.
