Description
Agate Beach Yaquina Head Lighthouse- vertical version. In this vertical composition aglow with sunset light, intricate windblown dunes provide foreground interest, while in the background the Yaquina Head Lighthouse stands sentinel. The low angle of light accentuates the complex, seeping forms of the dunes. A driftwood log juts from the sand from the lower left corner of the frame, and leads the eye towards the center of the frame and the lighthouse. The dynamic horizon, aglow with the golden light of sunset, intersects the frame about a third down from the top of the frame. The Yaquina Head Lighthouse is a historic building, construction began on it in 1871. At the time, the location was called Cape Foulweather, and early records list the building as the Cape Foulweather Lighthouse. It is on the central Oregon coast, not far from Lincoln City or Newport. See my other shots of Yaquina Head Lighthouse and also my many other shots of the Oregon coast.
