1932 Packard 903. This abstract of classic automobile chrome is a study of contrasts. The gold paint of the car contrasts with the bright chrome of the grill and accoutrements adorning the front of the car. The white of the brightly-lit sky reflected in the chrome contrast with the reds and other shades of nearby object reflected in the shiny metal. The curving forms of the multiple headlamps, horn, and badge contrast the heavily repeated straight vertical lines of the grill, and the straight horizontal mounting bar which bisects the frame about a third down from the top (a nice composition, mimicking the horizon line of a landscape). The shot is nearly centered left to right on the center of the grill, yielding a scene that is nearly, but not entirely, symmetrical. The contrast, exposure, and depth of field are all well-controlled to best show off the car's features. The 903 was Packard's Deluxe Eight line, with several models, with 1932 seeing the first newly-designed Packard...
